After lows of 55-61 this morning, highs today reached 80-86 with those beautiful weather cumulus mediocris clouds & low humidity. Winds were still nice from the northeast.
Watch for patchy fog tonight, especially over northwestern Benton, Newton & Jasper counties where it may be denser & more widespread.
We become a bit more humid Friday & all-out humid Saturday to even muggy Sunday. Winds will turn from northeast to northwest tomorrow to south-southeast to south by Friday & south to south-southwest Saturday.
Note the scattering of storms flaring up west & northwest of our area, especially on Friday, as storm system moves southeastward.
There, parameters look MARGINAL TO SLIGHT (Kansas to Wisconsin & Iowa).
Couple isolated t'showers are possible Saturday.
A wave of scattered showers & storms is expected Saturday night to Sunday morning.
Looks like SLIGHT RISK (Level 2 of 5) parameters are setting up southwestern Illinois to Missouri with potential of MARGINAL RISK (Level 1 of 5) getting into our area.
A couple spokes of numerous scattered storms should pivot through Sunday.
Parameters suggest MARGINAL RISK for severe.
Some scattered showers/t'showers bubble up Monday along with a couple isolated t'showers Tuesday.
We turn dry by Wednesday.
Rainfall totals will vary Saturday to Tuesday 0.50" to +1.75"
We do heat up later next week to around 90 with high humidity again.
The heat & mugginess tend to settle in with 90s around the weekend after this one (again preliminary......I am just projecting what the data is showing).
Some storms with some severe risk will eventually be possible near that time frame.
It certainly looks like a time frame for Gulf tropical development with the system potentially then moving through the Appalachians & Northeast.
This is the same set-up as seen yesterday. Thinning Saharan Dust, lots of clusters of convection in the Gulf over very warm water & favorable MJO octant fits with the higher risk.
We will wait & see how much of an impact the potential Gulf Coast tropical system has & whether it stalls the front over our area.
The tropical system should pull cold front southeastward on its back as it moves through the Appalachians given the current analysis.
So, cool-down is expected to 80 to the 80s.
After our little cool-down, heat re-builds in the Plains & will begin to march eastward.
Current evidence....current evidence suggests heat surging greatly in the Labor Day weekend, but we will monitor for changes.
Summer is certainly not finished yet with opportunity for near/record warmth day &/or night in some instances.
