TIPPECANOE COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI) — You might begin to notice people out and about on the Wabash River and its tributaries starting Friday.

The Wabash Sampling Blitz is taking place this weekend.  For those that volunteer, people will collect water samples from area streams and creeks that feed into the Wabash River.

Those samples will help experts check the quality and safety of the water in our local rivers.

Each volunteer group will be taking samples from three to five different sites.
