LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) — Like many programs across the country, Purdue football is experiencing changes within the team. Some players are declaring for the NFL Draft, others are going into the transfer portal, and even some staff members are moving on.
Purdue's very own Co-Defensive Coordinator and Linebacker Coach Brad Lambert is leaving for Wake Forest.
He will be taking over the Defensive Coordinator job at Wake Forest.
Lambert has had a history over at Wake. Previously before joining the Boilermakers, Lambert was an assistant at Wake from 2001-2010 under Jim Grobe.
He coordinated the defense at Wake from 2008-2010.
Lambert's departure means the Boilermakers will have their fourth different defensive play-caller in four years, following Nick Holt who left in 2019, and Bob Diaco in 2020.
Lambert only recently just joined the staff prior to the 2021 season along with 3 other coaches.
Under Lambert and the defensive coaches, Purdue's average of giving up 29.8 points per game changed to 22.4 just in one season alone.
Purdue is expected to take its time finding a replacement for Lambert.
