WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) — Road construction is already well underway, but the State Highway Department is kicking off "National Work Zone Awareness Week" on Monday.
Last year, five people died in work zone crashes.
The State Highway Department is kicking the week off on Monday morning with Indiana State Police.
The theme of this year's safety week is "Work Zones are a Sign to Slow Down."
They'll kick it off with a public event at the INDOT sub-district on U.S. 231 in West Lafayette.
