0080.you can remain anoynmous. 3 happening today- class is officially in session at the greater lafayette career academy.today several high school students will begin the journey to finding their career.that's where we find news 18's isabella caruso this morning.isabella you're going to tell us what a typical day at the career academy would look like for students. 3 yeah good morning guys.so students will take their core classes at their home school their fresophomore year.they can then register for one of the programs here at the grealafayatte career academy.they will then d here during their junior and/or senior years. 3 there is transportation provided for students to get from their home schools to the career academy, which is on 18th street about a block away from jefferson high school.the programs last either one to two academic years.this allows students to receive dual credit and some programs even gives students the chance to earn certifications in their respected field.miranda hutcheson says the career academy is a great opportunity to get a head start on your career and learn what you're interested in.she also says it can help students learn what they're not interested in. 3< one of the reasons that i think students should come here is to gain that experience.for us it's also a win to say 'this is not for me, this program is maybe not what i want to do.' that's a win, you figure that out about yourself. > some of the programs offered include culinary arts, public safety, education, construction and architecture, engineering, health science and communications and tv/radio. 3 for students who are considering registering for a program at glca, it's never ear. hutcheson says 8th graders can express their interests to school counselors and then start the process from there. trevor students from harrison, jefferson, mccutheon, oakland and west lafayette high schools are eligible to enroll here.but i'm told when space is available, benton county high school students can too. 3 students and teachers across tippecanoe county are getting ready right now for the first day of school.classes start today in the tsc.and superintendent scott hanback says there are a lot of new things to be excited for.three new principals have moved to the corporation.that includes at southwestern middle school, klondike middle school and woodland elementary.the tsc is also welcoming more than 80 new teachers, with 20 of those being brand new teaching positions.building projects have wrapped up at east tipp middle school.and the district is in the middle of an expansion at battle ground middle school and both high schools.have a great first day
