around 62. 3 new this morning -- a 5- year-old boy is injured after a boating incident on lake freeman in monticello. the boy was wakeboarding monday when his board came out of the water and hit him in the face. he was flown to riley hospital for children in indianapolis ?news 18's isabella caruso is live at lake freeman where it happened.?isabella what can you tell us? 3good morning trevor.according to the department of natural resources, the boy was sent to multiple hospitals for his injuries.at first, the 5- year-old was sent thealth memorial hospital in white county.however he was then flown by helicopter to riley children's hospital in indditional treatment. 3first responders were called around 11:30 to lake freeman in monticello.witnesses say the boy was wakeboarding when the front of the board completely submerged under the water.the board then flipped upwards out of the water toward the boy.he was then hit in the face and received a severe laceration.alcohol is not believed to be involved in this incident.that's all according to a press release from the dnr. 3this incident comes just two days after a previous boating incident also on lake freeman. on saturday, boat owner was filling their boat up with gas and put it in the water shortly after.the boat then started on fire.it burned for 20 minutes before fire teams were able to put it out.dnr officials say the explosion was fuel rated.the boats gas filter wasn't working properly. four from lafayette was involved in this boat fire. there were no injuries reported. 3the dnr is all about promoting recreation.however, they want people to be safe when recreating.i spoke with dnr officials recently and they blic to use their best judgment when out on the water and make safety a priority.isabella caruso news 18.
