3 a tippecanoe county road closure is going to put strain on a west lafayette street.the 3 and a half mile stretch of north river road between soldiers home and happy hollow roads is closed for the next three months.as news 18's demie johnson reports, in an effort to be accommodating to all traffic --- the city plans to temporarily remove its no truck signs off happy hollow road. 3<nats of dog.emily hobson an thumper are no strangers to happy hollow road.emily hobson: "i like to take her for walks here and sometimes i come by myself." that's how she knows it's a busy area. emily hobson:"especially with all the houses and the playground being here i feel like a lot of kids, i've seen them get out of cars here and there." and for the next 90 days, it's going to be even busier.john dennis: "if trucks do need to use happy hollow, we will go ahead and allow it but they'll still need to abide by the posted speed limits and they'll definitely have to stay away from using their motors to slow their trucks down, that creates an unnecessary amount of noise." mayor john dennis says the north river road closure is a county project--- but it does affect west lafayette traffic. the detour sends drivers across happy hollow --- a road the city closed to truck traffic a few years back.john dennis: "it's still a place where there's a lot of kids and a lot of pedestrians and having that high volume of truck traffic and the speeds they were using was really sort of a bad combination." dennis says the city has decided to lift the truck ban during construction because it just makes sense.john dennis: "because we're so densely populated sometimes weneed to use common sense which is sort of an odd thing for government to do...and realize there is no other option." he knows it's an inconvenience but the decision impacts people's livelihood.john dennis: "it can be very frustrating if you're on a clock, if you have to get from point a to point b and then get back." hobson understands...emily hobson: "i mean if it's what they have to do." ...but she's not thrilled about it.emily hobson: "i just hope they make it a speedy process." in west lafayette, demie johnson, news 18.> 3 mayor dennis says the city is working on message boards to remind truckers of the rules on happy hollow.dennis says west lafayette police will increase patrols in that area during
