Pari Apostolakos started her career as a Multiplatform Journalist at WLFI in 2021 after graduating from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. While at U of I, Pari majored in journalism with a focus in broadcast and minored in Spanish. During her college career Pari worked at The Daily Illini, the independent student newspaper, where she eventually became the Managing Editor for Reporting. She also worked as a reporter for the campus morning show, Good Morning Illini. She interned for The Whitney Reynolds Show, a Chicago-based, nationally syndicated PBS talk show, as social media director.
Her passion for arts and entertainment gave Pari the opportunity to be a College of Media Roger Ebert Fellow in 2019. She was mentored in arts reporting and film criticism by Michael Phillips, Chief Film Critic for the Chicago Tribune. Pari fell in love with live performance through the Thespian Society at her high school in the western suburbs of Chicago, where she was born and raised. As for her favorite role she’s ever played, it’s a toss-up between Princess Leia from Star Wars or the school principal in Grease.
Pari stepped outside of her comfort zone when she studied abroad in Pamplona, Spain in the spring of 2020 where she got to practice her Spanish fluency. She was sent home halfway through the experience due to the COVID-19 pandemic. But she made the most of it! While in Europe, she visited nine different cities in four different countries.
Other than being fluent in Spanish, Pari also speaks Greek. If you couldn’t tell by her last name, she is of Greek descent and she can’t wait to try the Greek eateries in Greater Lafayette.
When she’s not in the newsroom, you can find Pari reading novels, taking long walks or traveling. She’s a social butterfly and loves to meet new people. If you see her out and about, stop and say hello!
