JD Arland joined WLFI in May 2019

Title: Sports Anchor/Reporter

JD Arland joined WLFI in May 2019 as a sports intern. Upon graduation from Purdue University, he joined the sports department full-time.

JD graduated from Purdue University’s Brian Lamb School of Communication in three years with a degree in communication. He spent time researching equality in sports broadcasting with the Purdue Honors College.

During his time at Purdue, JD interned with the Big Ten Network, Lafayette Aviators Baseball, and Purdue Athletics as an on-air announcer and in-game host. He was also the lead anchor and executive producer of Fast Track News, a student broadcast news program. JD is an avid podcaster, and made several podcast series for Roundhouse Radio, Purdue’s on-campus student radio station.

JD was born in Fort Wayne, Indiana, and spent most of his time growing up in Carmel, Indiana, where he graduated from Carmel High School in 2017.

Outside of the office, JD is an avid Indianapolis sports and Purdue fan. He likes to play tennis, listen to music, and hang out with his dog Beyonce.

On Friday night against Muncie Central, Stephany ran a kickoff back 94 yards for a touchdown, caught a 47 yard touchdown pass, and blocked three punts. The senior safety has been electric for the Bronchos this season.
