WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) — A West Lafayette police officer is taking home a plaque dedicated to her former K9.

At Monday's West Lafayette City Council meeting Chief Troy Harris presented Officer and K9 Handler Elizabeth Romstadt a memorial for K9 Barry.

The Dutch Shepard was euthanized at eight years old in November for an unknown medical condition.

Romstadt was given a box that holds the American flag that flew the day Barry was put to rest.

A new K9 known as K9 Agent, a Belgian Malanois, started Monday with Romstadt.
