WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - West Lafayette Mayor John Dennis confirmed with News 18 that City Councilor Norris Wang passed away. He died Sunday afternoon at the age of 65.
The cause of death has not been confirmed. He was re-elected to represent the sixth district as a Republican in 2019 for a second term. He was the only Republican on the West Lafayette City Council.
Wang also previously served as a magistrate judge and a deputy prosecuting attorney in Tippecanoe County, according to his LinkedIn.
There was controversy over his re-election when his opponent sued for a re-count of the votes. That case was eventually dismissed due to an issue with filing of paperwork.
Mayor Dennis said there is no current plan to replace him on the council.
