WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI)—Mayor John Dennis said the City of West Lafayette is limiting the opportunities for public gatherings.
The city council meeting will take place Monday at 6:30pm but the meeting will be through a conference call.

Mayor Dennis said he has been using this same method for staff meetings everyday and hasn't had any problems. He said it will be a structured format. The conference will be able to hold up to one-hundred people. The council will only handle and discuss important matters.
Mayor Dennis said this a form of making sure business is taken care of while also making sure people are safe.
"Even under these conditions the world of government needs to go on," said Dennis. "There are still things that have to be paid for. There are still expenditures being incurred. There are still activities going on, people need to be paid. All of this involves a particular public process."
