WARREN COUNTY, Ind. (WFLI)—The Warren County 4-H Fair is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year - and organizers are soaking in the milestone.

"We had a plan and we were able to get it pulled off,” said Superintendent for the Warren County 4H fair Kurt Hartman.

That plan was to continue the tradition of 4-H in the community. But, with some help.

"Four generations of families that have been here at this fair,” said Hartman.

People like Dennie Myers and his family are fifth generation 4-H'ers. This anniversary for him means continuing that tradition.

"I think it's a good thing to learn in life,” Myers. “Just being around others and competing and trying to do things right."

Fifteen-year-old Zane Reitz understands firsthand what it means to do things right. He's a third generation attending the 4-H who prides himself on raising and showing goats.

"It really brings the community together, to be honest with you,” said Reitz. “And you see a lot of people here that are all here for the same reasons.”

Reitz wants to share what he's learned with other kids.

"Most people they walk through here and they see them,” said Reitz. “But they don't know all the work that goes in behind it."

That's why organizers invited students from Indianapolis to learn all about the animals and what it's like to be a 4-H member.

"We don't get to experience a lot of these things normally,” Hamiter. “Since it's the city and there's not a lot of animals there. The only animals I've seen really are chickens and dogs and cats."

Indianapolis native Aubrey Hamiter said that this opportunity gives upcoming generations a chance to learn more about other people's lives.

"I hope that we take away like learning about animals and how people live different lifestyles than us and it's not like they're different cultures in our state alone,” said Hamiter.
