CRAWFORDSVILLE, Ind. (WLFI) ― The Montgomery County Health Department announced Thursday that there were 14 confirmed cases of COVID-19 at Wabash College. The county reported 20 new cases in total, 14 were at Wabash College and 4 were staff of Bickford Senior Living. This brings the county’s total cases to 446 as of Thursday.
Officials from Montgomery County said in a released statement, an increase in positive cases in Montgomery County is not surprising as positive cases among Wabash College students, once back on campus, are reflected as part of the county’s data on the Indiana State Department of Health dashboard.
They stated the clusters are related to communal living clusters, such as dormitories and fraternities, which is common on college campuses. Most colleges and universities are dealing with similar challenges among their student body.
There have been 21 overall fatalities in Montgomery County connected to the coronavirus disease.
