WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - The Tippecanoe County Health Department says there is one positive COVID-19 case in a student at West Lafayette Elementary School. West Lafayette Community School Corporation Superintendent, Dr. Rocky Killion, sent out an email to WLCSC parents on Sunday.
The email says three classrooms will be put on precautionary quarantine this week. This is due to contact tracing procedures. The emails says the parents of these students have already been notified. The Indiana State Department of Health defines a close contact as anyone within six feet of a confirmed case for more than 15 minutes.
"WLCSC will continue employing extensive measures to keep students, staff, and families as safe as possible during this time," said Dr. Killion in the email. "As a reminder, families should not send their students to school if they have pending test results, a confirmed COVID-19 case in their home, or if the student is not feeling well."
He said WLCSC will continue to work closely with the county health department to monitor cases and make sure the school district's plan is up-to-date.
