LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) — WLFI has learned more about what took Tippecanoe County so long to get final election results Tuesday night. According to Tippecanoe County Clerk Christa Coffey, the delay was due to a volunteer's mistake with a voting machine memory card. WLFI was told it contained about 600 votes on it. Luckily, voting machines store votes in three different ways.
It took election officials some time to find the original machine so they could upload the archive information from it. They found the machine in Dayton and ended up getting those votes in around 11:30 P.M.
Once the final votes were in, they were able to call some of the close races.
