TIPPECANOE COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI)—The TASTE of Tippecanoe has some changes coming its way this year due to the pandemic.

"We knew though that after months of quarantine and not being able to see friends, family," said Chief Executive Officer for the Tippecanoe Arts Federation Tetia Lee.

The festival will still on go on. But for the first time ever it'll all be virtual, including the local entertainment.

"We are still highlighting the artist and the performers that have always been a draw for the TASTE and we've really picked artist that have a strong local tie," said Lee.

In addition to the music, the TASTE of Tippecanoe has also always been about food. Lee said people will still have an opportunity to enjoy great local foods as well.

"We've also partnered with some terrific food trucks and restaurants to make sure that the food element of the TASTE which the primary reason why we've always done the TASTE, still is felt," said Lee.

Organizers have created a system for people to nominate their neighborhood. The winning neighborhood will be assigned a food truck. Up to three neighborhoods will win.

"It's really cool to see so many people who are like, oh no come to my neighborhood, come to my neighborhood," said Lee.

People are encouraged to visit each neighborhood to try each food truck. Lee said the pandemic will have an impact on this year's TASTE.

" The TASTE is the single largest fundraising event for the arts in the State of Indiana," said Lee. "So yes it absolutely does have an affect."

But Lee said organizers have decided to think about the positives and how much fun people will have in the comfort of their homes during this year's TASTE of Tippecanoe.

"We've been trying to concentrate on the positives of all of this," said Lee. "There are certainly challenges that we are all facing. But there's also some opportunities for us to be creative and really flex our creativity."

The TASTE of Tippecanoe will be virtual on June 20th from 4-10PM. For more information on how you can nominate your neighborhood click here.
