LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - The observance of Memorial Day is underway at the Indiana Veteran's Home, where around 2,800 flags were planted Monday morning.
10 volunteers from Duke Energy helped plant the flags.
They worked for more than an hour, planting flags across the entire cemetery.
This is the third year Duke Energy has partnered with the Indiana Veteran's Home to plant the flags.
Duke Energy's State President Stan Penigar said this is something volunteers look forward to each year.
"Honoring those that have fallen on our behalf and who may have lived here at the facility and now buried here. It's really an honor to be here,” said Penigar.
The flags will remain through Memorial Day weekend.
Duke Energy has plans to plant flags again for Veteran's Day.
