TIPPECANOE COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI)—Visit Lafayette, West Lafayette is optimistic after the NCAA's announcement it's planning to hold the entire March Madness tournament in Indiana. The tourism center is hoping it will have an impact on Greater Lafayette. News 18 spoke with the president of the county's local tourism center about the excitement and hope for the local economy.
President of Visit Lafayette, West Lafayette Jo Wade said having March Madness in Indiana is a win.
She said it will give those who have never been to the Hoosier state an opportunity to really explore all it has to offer. Wade said the center expects a lot of people passing through the area which will hopefully boost sales for establishments.
"It's a positive," said Wade. "It gives us hope that events are coming back and groups are really trying to do it right."
Wade said the center will be ready to assist visitors.
