WARREN COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI) - An Illinois man has been arrested after police found a large amount of methamphetamine during an Operating While Intoxicated arrest.
Indiana State Police said a blue sedan was going southbound on U.S. 41 near County Road 300 North in Warren County Friday evening. A trooper clocked the sedan going higher than the 60-miles-per hour speed limit.
After pulling the vehicle over, police found 21-year-old Deonta Grant of Calumet City Illinois behind the wheel. Police said he appeared to be driving under the influence. Grant admitted to smoking marijuana an hour before the arrest, and agreed to a chemical test.
Inside the car, ISP said they found a large package of a white crystal substance. It weighed just over two pounds, and was later confirmed to be meth. Troopers also found a small amount of suspected marijuana.
Grant went to St. Vincent-Williamsport Hospital to be tested, and was then taken to the Warren County Jail. He faces the following charges:
Dealing in Methamphetamine – Level 2 Felony
Possession of Methamphetamine – Level 6 Felony
Possession of Marijuana – Class B Misdemeanor
Operating with Controlled Substance in Body – Class C Misdemeanor
Operating a Motor Vehicle while Intoxicated – Class C Misdemeanor
