MONTICELLO, Ind. (WLFI) - Twin Lakes High School will close and students will move to virtual learning for two weeks starting Tuesday, September 1st. Interim Superintendent Debbie Metzger made the announcement Monday afternoon.

"Twin Lakes School Corporation will only be closing the high school as of August 31st," said Metzger in a statement to News 18. "This decision was based upon multiple COVID-19 positive cases within the week. The most current diagnosis was Monday afternoon. In order to assure the safety of our students and staff, we have made the decision to close the building. Students will return on Thursday, September 10th."

All high school athletic events, practices and other activities will also be canceled until September 10th.

All other K-8 schools in the district will remain open, and K-8 athletics and activities are still allowed to happen.

In a letter sent to staff shared with News 18, Metzger said the most recent diagnosis was in a student who was last at the school on Wednesday, August 26th. She wrote those who were in close contact with this student have been notified.

The letter also said the building will be closed to all teachers over the next two days as custodial staff deep clean the school. Staff are required to return to the building on Thursday.
