INDIANAPOLIS, Ind (WLFI)—A bill that would make it harder for people to change their marked gender on their license has been shelved.
Legislators removed that bill from Tuesdays commitee meeting.
The bill would require transgender and non-binary hoosiers to present a birth certificate with their current gender.
Right now a gender change on a hooseris state-ID only requires a certified physicians note.
Vice President of Pride Lafayette Lorne Sadler says he hopes legislators will leave the bill alone.
"I'm hoping that maybe, we might change some minds about how people perceive our comunity," said Sadler.
Indiana law still requires applicants to include imformation regarding their gender.
