LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - It's that time of year again! Tools for school is starting back up in Greater Lafayette. The goal for Tools for School is to help get the necessary supplies that students will use throughout the year.
Salvation Army Lieutenant, Aaron Johnson says that local students traditionally are in need of backpacks, notebooks, and index cards, but they also need things like iPod headphones, and tablets.
"It is crazy, we never needed that, but times are changing and it's now a necessity," said Lieutenant Johnson. We're partnering with a few local businesses to make this happen.
Collection sites are at a number of locations across town: Anderson plumbing on 733 Navco Drive in Lafayette, Belvins Insurance Agency on 803 S 18th Street in Lafayette and our very own station - WLFI on 2605 Yeager Road in West Lafayette. We have multiple donation sites at Payless Supermarket located in Lafayette at 2200 Greenbush Street, 65 Beck Lane, and 2513 Maple Point Drive, and lastly one in West Lafayette at 1032 Sagamore Pkwy West.
The Salvation Army will distribute the supplies on July 27th at Oakland High School located at 1100 Elizabeth Street, Lafayette. The distribution will run from 9 a.m. to noon.
