LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - Tippecanoe County republicans elected Jody Hamilton on June 26 to serve the remainder of Roland Winger's term for the county council's second district.
In May, Roland Winger announced he would be leaving his position on the county council. Hamilton won the election over Shane Weist. Winger had endorsed Hamilton and was pleased with her election.
"I think that the party had great two choices and it was simply Jody's service on the council and having the familiarity that she has, being able to hit the ground running was a primary reason why I endorsed her," Winger said.
Hamilton will begin serving on July 1. Her term will end in 2022 when she plans on running for the same seat again. However, she says she's focused on the important task of budgeting which begins soon.
"My plan is definitely really looking at everything, listen to what people have to say, and ask the questions that need to be asked," Hamilton said.
