TIPPECANOE COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI) — The Tippecanoe County Sheriff's Office is putting out a warning about possible impersonators. Deputies say the callers are defrauding victims, and have taken the identities of actual sheriff's employees.

According to the sheriff's office, the impersonators claim to be either Lieutenant Lowe or Lieutenant Frantz. They are demanding payments for outstanding warrants due to missed court dates. Also, they will tell you about a gag order.

Deputies said to hang up on these calls immediately and report the call at FTC.gov, or call (877) 387-4357.
