WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) — Fire crews responded to multiple structure fires near Lindberg Village Friday afternoon.
A West Lafayette firefighter had to be hospitalized late Friday afternoon for a heat related injury. Wabash Township Fire Chief Ed Ward says it was a minor injury. No one else was hurt. Investigators say no people were in the houses when the fire broke out, and only one pet had to be rescued. It's doing fine.

According to officials, multiple agencies responded to the fires and are now under control. Red Cross and the Tippecanoe County Emergency Management Agency were on site to help those who have had their homes damaged.
According to a neighbor, the fire started around 3:00 p.m. on Friday afternoon. He heard a big boom was heard before he came outside to find five houses in flames.
The investigation is expected to be complete on Monday. The Lindberg Village Home Owners Association President, Shawn Martin, has started a GoFundMe for the families impacted by the fire. Item donations can be brought to the Tippecanoe County Library in West Lafayette.
