TIPPECANOE COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI) — The Tippecanoe County Health Department has launched a coronavirus hotline. Residents can call 765-423-9193 to get their COVID-19 questions answered.
The hours of operation are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Members of the department's nursing division are on the other end of the line.
Health Department Administrator Khala Hochstedler said they've been getting a lot of calls lately. This hotline was designed to make it easier for the community and workers to directly connect.
“We've been getting a lot of calls about COVID-19 and they were going to different lines so we just wanted to make it easier to return all the calls,” said Hochstedler.
She said a question they often get is if the department is providing coronavirus testing.
“A lot of people think that the Health Department at a local level has tests, but we do not have those available,” said Hochstedler. “That isn't our role, you still have to be tested through a lab and your provider or an urgent care.”
