TIPPECANOE COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI)—The Tippecanoe County Council District 1 has welcomed a new member to the council.
Last night the Tippecanoe County Democratic Party held a caucus and elected Ben Murray to fill a position on the council. This is after former council member Illana Stonebraker vacated the seat.
She moved out of the township for a career opportunity in Bloomington. Stonebraker has served on the council for a year.
Murray currently works for the Lafayette School Corporation as the Corporation Testing Coordinator. He said he is excited to take over and serve his community.
"Personally I am hoping just to continue with the trend that has occurred the last several years," said Murray. "Because of the economic growth, the great schools, the great foundations, the great quality of life that we have."
Murray is currently waiting for paperwork to be finalized for the position. He will serve the rest of this term which is three years.
