TIPPECANOE COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI)—The trend, devious lick, encourages kids to do, well, devious things to school property.

In videos from around the country on TikTok soap dispensers are missing from school bathrooms, soap bottles are thrown in urinals and bathrooms left a complete mess with trash everywhere.

Harrison High School Resource Officer Jason Morgan said unfortunately that trend has made it to local area schools.

"Most of the time it ends up being the restroom because no administrators or teachers are in the restrooms," said Morgan.

Morgan said kids at Harrison have done similar things such as removing soap dispensers and clogging the toilets. He said in some cases it's worse than that.

"They've actually broken the pipes from the urinals and the sinks to the wall so water gets everywhere in the bathroom," said Morgan.

Morgan said this isn't just happening at Harrison. Other schools and even corporations are having the same issue. Six days ago Battle Ground Middle School sent a release to parents stating students were spraying and smearing soap everywhere.

"So it's a lot of needless damage that causes a lot of work for our janitorial and maintenance staff," said Morgan, not to mention money to repair what may have been broken.

Morgan said at Harrison, restrooms are closed during class hours, staff and teachers are posted near restrooms to monitor them.

"We are just taking it day by day really, I think limiting access to restrooms has helped a lot," said Morgan.

More video on YouTube from other schools around the country shows kids stealing school property such as projectors from classrooms and a handicap door opener. TikTok has removed some of the videos off of its platform.

Morgan said if and when students are caught destructing school property there will be punishment through the school. He said there may also be criminal charges forwarded to the juvenile prosecutor.
