LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) — The 19th Greater Lafayette Honor Flight is heading to our nation's capital. It was announced in March that the flight will end later this year. Only three more Greater Lafayette Honor Flights remain.

Those who go get the chance to visit a variety of memorials honoring their sacrifices including the World War II, Korean and Vietnam war memorials. They also take a trip to the Arlington National Cemetery to watch the changing of the guard.

Today veterans, their guardians, and volunteers feel a bit emotional about this trip.

"Gives you a wonderful feeling. I think I'll enjoy every moment of it," said  Korean War Veteran Raymond Caldwell

You can help welcome home the returning veterans tonight around 7:15 p.m. at the Purdue University Airport.
