LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - A teen is in critical condition after an apparently random stabbing attack in Lafayette. It happened in the alley next to the Marathon on 900 Ferry Street in Lafayette around 10:30 p.m.
The 18 year old victim was riding his bike home through the ally, when 48 year old David Engstrom held out a knife in front of the victim and cut his neck. The victim was taken to an area hospital in critical condition.
Engstrom is currently being held in the Tippecanoe county jail on a $100,000 bond. He faces felony charges of aggravated battery, battery by means of a deadly weapon, battery resulting in serious bodily injury and criminal recklessness.
