LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) — Tippecanoe Schools will allow the mask mandate to expire at the end of this month. In a letter sent out to parents Monday, Tippecanoe School Corporation Superintendent Scott Hanback said the TSC Board of Trustees will allow the mandate to expire on June 30th.
An executive order from Governor Holcomb said indoor mask requirements for K-through-12 schools will end on June 30th. However, it's up to local school boards to decide whether to extend the mandate for the upcoming school year.
Starting July 1, students and staff will no longer be required to wear masks in school but masking is optional. Because of CDC regulations, masks are still required on public transportation. Hanback says it's unclear whether that includes school buses.
He also announced that TSC will not require COVID vaccines for students or staff.
