LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - April 10th is the day when TSC Elementary Schools will host Kindergarten Round-Up.
This night gives parents and students the chance to meet their teachers and prepare for coming to school for the fall semester. Students will be able to meet their teacher, visit their classroom, and do various activities set-up by their teacher.
Parents will have the opportunity to learn what Kindergarten is all about, from what school supplies are needed and what skills their child will be learning.
Dawn Hays says she looks forward to Round-Up every year and the first day of school isn't just a big day for the students.
“It's a big day for parents because if you have not had children in school before it's your first chance to let your child go a little bit and have some independence.”
Hays also says the round-up helps the incoming students overcome their nerves and fear of starting school.
“If they've seen the teachers' faces, they're not as scared and it just gets them ready and we do talk a little bit about the skills that they need when they start school.”
Parents of soon-to-be kindergarteners have until April 5th to register for Round-Up.
While Round-Up is the same day for all schools, each school has specific times for the event. Parents are encouraged to call their respective schools or check online for more information.
