LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) — The Tippecanoe County Health Department announced Wednesday that states starting Nov 4, social gatherings will be limited to 100 or less. The order was issued due to the increase in new COVID-19 cases.
Health Administrator Khala Hochstedler said a majority of the cases since August have been linked to Purdue.
Now, she said cases have shifted to an middle aged demographic, and added that there's also been an increase in elderly cases.
"We needed to take some type of action," she said. "So we are hoping that by doing this, it reminds people that COVID-19 is still in our community."
The order states that for social gatherings over 100 people, event organizers must develop and submit to the Tippecanoe County Health Department a written plan at least 7 days in advance of the event outlining the steps to be taken to mitigate against COVID-19.
The complete order can be read below and here.
WLFI will have more information on the order as it becomes available.
