NEWTON COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI) — An Indianapolis man attempted to flee police after a traffic stop in Newton County. According to the Newton County Sheriff's Office, around 3:45 p.m. Saturday, an officer conducted a traffic stop for a speeding violation on US 41 near State Road 14.
The driver, 23-year-old Shaharian P. Clark, from Indianapolis had an active warrant out of Hendricks County for Theft. Clark was placed in handcuffs when he took off on foot heading northbound in a southbound lane of US 41. He was struck by a vehicle, got back up and attempted to run but officers deployed a taser.
Clark was transported by Newton County EMS to a hospital where he was evaluated and released. Clark was then booked into the Newton County Jail for Resisting Arrest.
