TIPPECANOE COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI) - The State of Indiana has filed 20 charges of theft against Wabash Township Trustee, Jennifer Teising. The charges were filed on Wednesday in Tippecanoe Superior Court 5.
The charges range in date starting from June 17th, 2020 to March 23rd, 2021. The charges fall on two week increments on Wednesdays.
According to MyCase, a subpoena has also been filed on Wednesday.
According to court documents, the state is accusing of Trustee Teising of taking a salary in the amount of $1,067.31 when she did not live in the township in charges one through seven, $1,020.84 in charges eight through 14, and $1,020.59 in charges 15 through 20.
Witnesses of this are listed in the documents include former Wabash Township Fire Chief Ed Ward, Wabash Township Board President Angel Valentin, former board member Michelle Wietbrock, Tippecanoe County Clerk Julie Roush, and representatives from Purdue Federal Credit Union, Verizon Wireless, the Indiana BMV, Campers Inn, City of Anderson and City of West Lafayette.
As we previously reported, Teising talked with News 18 exclusively claiming she had all the documents to prove that she did have a residence on Knox Drive in West Lafayette during this time period.
News 18 has reached out to Jennifer Teising and asked if she could share any more information about the charges with us and she replied, "No idea."
Teising's first court appearance is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. on Friday, May 28th.
