INDIANAPOLIS (WLFI) -- The state of Indiana is keeping a close eye on COVID-19 cases in schools.
It's opened a new online reporting tool. The website will help schools more quickly report close contacts of a positive case.
Health commissioner Dr. Kristina Box said the state has been gathering school rosters and other data.
This allowed the to create the dashboard with between 20,000 to 30,000 student records.
Tuesday, they got another 500,000 from the department of education.
She said more are expected in the future.
"Having these records will help us to quickly match positive cases among students to schools and insure schools and local health departments are notified promply," Box explained.
The ISDH is also building a portal to track positive cases among students, staff and teachers.
Box said schools will have to update it every 24 hours.
