September 6, 1 PM Weather Forecast Update

Great Labor Day! Tracking some storms, nice weather, then heat wave before BIG CHANGE...

Rainfall varied from a trace to a band of as much as 1.40" in our southern counties Saturday. Much the area saw 0.05-0.25".

Highs Sunday reached 79-83 with lots of sunshine.

Lows this morning ran 52-62 with much of the area at 57-61.

We look mostly sunny to partly cloudy today.  A random passing isolated shower or two is possible south of 26 from cumulus clouds bubbling up today.  Highs of 82-87 are expected.  The humidity should be held in check with west to west-northwest wind at 8-17 mph.

Lows tonight should run 58-63.

As for Tuesday, it should turn windy with southwest winds 23-37 mph (especially by late afternoon).

It will actually not be humid for much of the day with dew points 58-63.  By late afternoon-evening a narrow tongue of 65-70 dew points will arrive ahead of a cold front & highly-broken line of storms.

There may not be many storms (35-40% coverage), but the ones that do form will pose some wind & hail threat (especially closer to the stronger wind fields aloft in the northern part of the viewing area).

This highly-broken line should pass in the 6-11 p.m. time frame.

Looks like SLIGHT RISK parameters north of 26 & MARGINAL RISK parameters to I-70.  We will await the new SPC Covective Outlook update to see how they draw this up.

Wednesday-Thursday looks good with 77-84 & lows 52-58 with lots of sunshine.

In the near-term, we still need to watch the southwestern & western Gulf with potential tropical storm or hurricane southern Texas or Mexico.

It will begin to heat up on Friday.

The heat will overspread the viewing area next weekend.

Looks like a September 11-18 late-season heat wave.

Our highs should PEAK at 92-97 with heat indices PEAKING at 95-105.

Note the impressive warmth (near/record warmth) at night with lows in the 70s widespread in mid-September.

Big change comes by September 19.

Note the lows in the 40s moving in.  30s may reach southern Wisconsin & northeastern Iowa with 40 to northwestern Illinois.

The Florida to East Coast & Atlantic corridor will continue to get more active for tropical storms & hurricanes.  Hurricane Larry will brush by Bermuda & near Nova Scotia to Newfoundland.  It will bring dangerous surf to the coast of New England with high waves & strong rip currents.  It should avoid Maine to New Brunswick.

& near record lots of tropical storms & hurricanes. Florida, the East Coast, Northern New England & the Canadian Maritimes, Bermuda & the Caribbean will all feature substantial risk.
