Highs today reached 78-85 with humid to muggy dew points of 69-74.

Total rainfall over the past 24 hours varies from 0.01-1.30" for the area.  Much of the area has seen 0.10-0.30".

The highest totals of 1" or a bit more in a band over far southern Fountain County & in a narrow band over northeastern Jasper County.

Line of storms with severe weather along the Mississippi River right now will weaken as it moves eastward.

It will pass through our area early Tuesday morning as 30-40% coverage of some showers & storms.

This will be the cold front & temperatures ahead of it should hit 72-79.

After that, new showers & a few storms will develop nearing midday & these will last into early afternoon BEHIND the front.

Temperatures will fall into the 64-68 range with northwest to north-northwest wind.

Rain is likely Tuesday night with north wind & 50s.

Even Wednesday, it appears some showers may linger with gray skies & highs only 62-66 with north winds.

Rainfall accumulation for now to Thursday AM should run 1-2" east of US 421 & 0.50-1" west of it.

So, this will be very welcome rainfall & it will feel like Fall.

We will go from as high as 94 to highs only in the 60s.

A couple to few isolated showers are possible Thursday with mostly cloudy skies.

Skies will clear Thursday night with lows 42-46.

We warm up nicely Friday with southwest winds & highs 75-81 with mostly sunny skies.

Cold front Friday night will knock us a hair back to highs of 71-78 Saturday with mostly sunny skies.

Sunday highs of 77-82 are likely, followed by 78-85 Monday.

So, we get the rainfall we need, then enjoy some nice Fall weather!

After some of that rainfall Monday-Tuesday, pattern is quite dry for the rest of September.

Drier than normal trend continues through October & November.

Brush & field fire risk will go up substantially in October to November.

After an overall warmer & drier than normal October-November, it still appears winter will hit suddenly & pretty hard in December.I am still going for below normal temperatures & above normal precipitation with above normal snowfall.

This year, we have a better shot at a White Christmas.

We should then turn suddenly mild around New Year's Eve & the warmer, wetter weather should continue into early January.

Thoughts are that winter returns in late January with colder weather & snow, but the very end of December through early January may have little to no snow at all (after a snowy December).

Late January through the first entire half of February looks colder & snowier than normal, but then late February should turn nice & mild & thaw again.

March still favors above normal temperatures & precipitation with below normal snowfall.
