September 14, 1:30 PM Weather Forecast Update

SLIGHT RISK for severe weather this evening...hot weekend ahead, but real taste of Fall mornings ahead late next week.

It was an unusually warm morning with lows over much of the area at 70-74.  The typical cool spot, Cass County Airport, dropped to 66.

As of 1:30 p.m., temperatures are 86-90 with dew points 66-70.  Heat indices are running 89-96.

Winds are southwest at 15-28 mph.

There is a SLIGHT RISK or Level 2 of 5 risk of severe weather this evening for the entire viewing area.

Broken line of storms should pass 6-11 p.m. this evening with risk of a couple to few severe storms with wind & hail threat.

Rainfall will be variable given broken line & fact that storms will be moving quickly.  Some of you may get a quick 0.60-0.75", others only trace or 0.05".

We look dry, cooler & less humid with increasing sunshine Wednesday (northwest to north to northeast winds 10-20 mph).  Highs of 78-84 are likely.

After lows of 55-64 Wednesday night, Thursday looks w

armer as wind goes back to the south with highs 83-88.

Thursday will be a bit more humid.  After dew points in the 50s Wednesday, they should climb back to the 60s Thursday afternoon-evening.

Significant flooding is likely from Louisiana to Alabama this week as the remnants of Nicholas slow down & meander over the Deep South.

Interestingly, even as Nicholas finally reaches Georgia by Friday, another round of flooding rainfall is possible Friday-Tuesday (late this week to early next week) in Louisiana to Alabama (& even Tennessee).

This will occur as an upper low in northeastern Mexico moves over the far western Gulf, then moves northward.

This upper low could actually bring us a few storms Monday-Tuesday before the main cold front with line of scattered storms passes Wednesday of next week (September 22).

I included now 30% storm coverage for Monday & Tuesday, then bumped it up to 40% Wednesday as strong cold front passes.

Parameters Wednesday suggest MARGINAL to SLIGHT RISK (Level 1-2 out of 5).

Lows late next week will drop down in to the 40s area-wide for the first time since late May!

We will warm back up again quickly before we cool off just as rapidly with a few more nights in the 40s again.
