Updated: Sep 13, 2021 12:10 PM

Highs today should reach upper 80s to lower 90s with heat indices near 90 to the upper 90s.

With hazy, smoky sunshine, southwest winds of 15-25 mph are expected.

Tonight looks unseasonably warm with lows near 70 to the lower 70s.  Normal low for mid-September is near 50 to the lower 50s.

Tuesday should feature lots of hazy, smoky sunshine with highs near 90 to the mid 90s with strong southwest winds 22-37 mph.

Dew points of 66-71 will lead to heat indices of lower 90s to around 100.

Broken line of storms should pop overhead Tuesday evening-night & move southeastward.

Timing of storms here is 6 p.m.-10 p.m.

This will be hit-or-miss rainfall with around 40% coverage of storms.

Given the magnitude or the wind fields aloft & Bulk Shear, any storm that does develop could turn severe with wind & hail threat.

The entire viewing area is under a SLIGHT RISK for severe weather (Level 2 of 5).

As for the rest of Tuesday night to Wednesday AM, a few scattered showers/thunder are possible with 30% coverage after 10 p.m. to 10 a.m. Wednesday.

Then dew points should drop into the 50s with north wind with partly to mostly cloudy skies.

Highs Wednesday will be cooler in the upper 70s to lower 80s.

Front moves back northward Thursday.  After morning lows in the upper 50s to mid 60s, highs should reach 82-88.

The wind should turn back to the south-southeast by Thursday afternoon with sunshine & some clouds.

I went ahead & kept the 20% POP in there for isolated shower/storm as the front moves back northward Thursday.

It looks hot, humid & breezy to windy with highs near 90 to the mid 90s & heat indices 90s to 100 Friday-Tuesday (September 17-21).

"Nicholas" direct impacts should stay south of our area.

Toward September 17-20, we will need to watch coastal North Carolina & then the Northeast.

Vigorous wave coming off of Africa will be monitored, as well.

A broken line of storms (40%) with MARGINAL to SLIGHT RISK parameters (Level 1 to 2 of 5) is possible Tuesday night (September 21-22).

This cold front will bring much cooler weather September 22-23 with lows in the 40s.

We heat back up again September 24-26.
