LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) — Head Coaches Earl Coleman and Larry Boener have lead the McCutcheon Maverick track program to several conference championships and three school records in recent years. This senior group featured six athletes who are taking their talents to college athletics.
The Mavericks are next up on the WLFI Track and Field senior spotlight.
Sabrina Robison holds the school record in Pole Vaulting with a 12'6" career high. She will become a Jaguar this fall and compete for IUPUI.
Grace Auckley will attend Purdue Fort Wayne and join the Mastadon track program.
Briana Rivas, was a member of the All-Conference 4x800 relay team, where she will run for Indiana Tech.
Shianne Switzer holds a pair of school records in hurdles and sprints. She will attend Indiana State.
Diamond Singh will join Valparaiso University as a sprinter this fall.
Finally, Thomas Schneery will join Wabash College as a Pole Vaulter.
Both head coaches talked leadership, and what it means to be a senior role model.
"We had several girls who were really strong advocates of helping the young athletes just come along," said Coach Coleman.
"They were excited, they were fired up about leading this team finally. They've had good mentors. They've had good senior classes ahead of them that have taught them how to do it and they were looking forward to being that group this year," said Coach Boener.
