WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) — Four Seniors, two North Central Conference Championships, and one sectional title. Julie Hawkins's Harrison Girls Tennis Program featured a group of 4th year veteran seniors. After watching this senior bunch develop for the last three years, Coach Hawkins says she firmly believes this would have been another conference championship season. Raider Tennis is next up on our senior spotlight.
Sydney Jacobsen was the number one overall female athlete in the class of 2020 with eight total varsity letters. Jacobsen will play division two basketball at Ashland University this fall. She was the tennis team's 2019 MVP and a four-year member of the varsity squad.
Jenna Harlow is headed to Purdue this fall to study kinesiology.
Twinkle Kaur is also headed to Purdue this fall. She will enter a pre-veterinary medicine track.
Marlene Tedy-Gabriel is the third Harrison Raider to choose Purdue. She will enter the engineering program this fall.
Coach Hawkins talked about hard work in her interview with Sports 18. She also described how these seniors earned their spot in the Raider athletics legacy.
"I think their work ethic shows that if you want to compete and you want to play, and you want to be on the varsity roster...you need to be out there playing on a regular basis, improving your game," said Hawkins. "I think that's what a lot of these girls have demonstrated."
