WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) —The Harrison boys golf program's success goes beyond victory at a few tournaments over the years.
Dave Schneider's Raiders were hoping to win an 11th straight sectional title this season before spring sports were canceled. Schneider credits a lot of that winning and success to his five seniors.
Nic Hofman solidified himself as one of the best prep golfers in the state of Indiana over his four years with Harrison. Hofman is the reigning city champion. He's taking his talents on the course to Purdue next year, where he will join the men's golf team. He's set enroll in the exploratory studies program.
Tom Newton also a key component to Harrison's winning ways. Newton will attend IU Bloomington in the fall to study finance.
TJ Whiteman is headed to Butler and will join the Economics and Entrepreneurship program.
Drew Howat and Gehrig Pruitt will each join Hofman at Purdue next year as well.
"Three years in a row we've won sectionals. Three years in a row city/county, three years in a row NCC championship. Various tournaments throughout the year we've won various years, different tournaments, so they leave a great legacy for the other kids coming up in the future to attain," said Schneider.
"That's what we hope to do. We kind of pass it down from one generation to the next generation to the next generation and it's worked fairly well thus far."
