WASHINGTON (WLFI) — A Republican senator is sharing his thoughts on the ongoing impeachment proceedings against President Donald Trump. On Thursday, the House of Representatives announced it is moving forward with articles of impeachment, which could send the process to the senate soon.
Sen. Todd Young says the actions being taken have turned impeachment into a partisan exercise. He says it's not good for our country. But that hasn't stopped him from anticipating articles of impeachment going to the senate. Young says it's distracting lawmakers from the policy making process.
"It shouldn't. We ought to be able to, at once, carry out our oversight roles as long as they're responsibly carried out. I have some questions along those lines, but also we need to continue to pass legislation," said Young.
President Trump tweeted that if Democrats are going to impeach him he wants it done quote "now," and the White House is already planning for a possible trial in the senate.
