LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) -- The Salvation Army's Tools for School event is underway in Greater Lafayette. For the next two-weeks, businesses will be collecting donated school supplies for students.
You can find collection bins at Payless in West Lafayette and both Dog n Suds locations. They're looking for a list of new and unused school items. It will go directly to a child in need.

This year is the first time Dog n Suds is participating. Raya Massengill, Dog n Suds marketing and communications director said they're happy to have an opportunity to help.
"This year because schools closed, we didn't have as many opportunities to donate to school fairs, and proms and after proms so we are hoping that this two-week drive will help us do what we were already doing but in a different format."
She hopes their participation brings a positive impact on those families who depend on the drive.
"We hope that we bring in lots of donations for the tools for school and the Salvation Army to help deliver to the schools in the community. That's really important for us to do our part and we hope that we can get the community involved as well."
If you drop off items at Dog-N-Suds, you are asked to wear a mask while outside of your vehicle.
