WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) — Safety is the number one priority for police and business owners as football season begins this week.
The Campus Bar Coalition held a meeting at the Neon Cactus, Tuesday. The goal is to make sure everyone is ready to help keep students safe.
Bar owners, members of the West Lafayette and Purdue Police and fire Departments discussed plans to handle the large crowds.
Business owners had the opportunity to ask questions and discuss any concerns. Wellness programs director at Purdue Tammy Lowe said when it comes to safety, cooperation is key.
"Nobody has to come to this meeting and to sit in a room with 40 people that want to be here and they want to dialogue, and they want to have a conversation, and they want to find solutions to issues so that they can make sure this is a safe environment really shows the strength of this organization," said Lowe.
An award was also given out to Brothers Bar and Grill for Responsible Retailer of the Year.
