LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) — Lafayette Police Department announced Wednesday the death of retired LPD K9 Douwe.
Douwe served along with his handler, Sergeant Scott Anderson from 2009 through 2016. According to an LPD release, during Douwe’s career he was responsible for 312 apprehensions of suspects, 9 bite apprehensions, Marijuana Seized: 17 pounds, Methamphetamine Seized: 115 grams, Heroin Seized: 98 grams, Cocaine Seized: 1.5 pounds, and Crack Cocaine Seized: 15 grams.
Douwe was able to live out his final years with Scott and his family after his retirement from the police force. Douwe was 13 years old.
