TIPPECANOE COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI)—Many people are remembering the life of Bryan Metzger. Someone who loved his community and made a difference in people's lives.

"He was very focused,” said Tippecanoe County Commissioner, Tom Murtaugh. “You know he was passionate about making this literally a better place."

Murtaugh worked with Metzger for many years. He said there are so many things to remember about Metzger.

"He touched so many lives in this community,” said Murtaugh. “He should be remembered for the things that he did to make it a better place."

A graduate of Purdue University, Metzger served as the Extension Youth Director for 4-H in White County for several years before coming to Tippecanoe County. He was very passionate about people.

"Obviously Bryan was incredibly dedicated,” said Tippecanoe County Commissioner, David Byers. “He did a lot of his work revolved around youth."

Byers was fortunate to know Metzger for many years.

"Bryan, back in the old days when I was in 4-H, I actually got to meet Bryan,” said Byers. “He was a gentleman that had a big heart."

Metzger dedicated a lot of his time to the CASA organization, Cary Home, Juvenile Alternatives, and Juvenile Magistrate. If there is one thing synonymous with Metzger's work, it is that he cared.

"I think that's a great aspect or a characteristic of an individual that is here to take care of the citizens,” said Byers.

A man who will always be remembered for his dedication to the community. His legacy will continue to carry on.

"I think without a doubt he would be talking to people about getting engaged,” said Murtaugh.

Byers adds, "Hopefully take some of those characteristics and use them in your everyday life. You know hopefully, those he has touched will say, yea, that's what Bryan did."
