Police academy offers police program to public

Purdue Police department is offering citizen police program to the public

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI)--Registration for the Purdue citizens police academy is now open.

The department is offering a free course that will allow people to feel what it is like to be an officer.

The six-week program will meet Thursday's at the Purdue Police Department.

Students will be able to drive squad cars and work in a "crime lab" to practice forensic techniques.

Classes are limited and will begin on Feb. 22.
